HAWAII – PACOM History
U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, headquartered at Camp H.M. Smith in Hawaii, is the oldest and largest of the Department of Defense's combatant commands. It oversees military operations across a theater spanning from the U.S. West Coast to the Indian Ocean, covering 36 nations and over half the world's population. INDOPACOM's mission has grown in strategic importance as the U.S. focuses on great-power competition with China and maintains readiness on the Korean Peninsula.
