Where To Live

NAS Jacksonville is a major Navy aviation installation on the St. Johns River in Florida's largest city. Jacksonville is a genuinely underrated major metro — affordable, growing, with expanding arts and food scenes, excellent beaches at Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, and Ponte Vedra, and Florida's absence of state income tax. The St. Johns River defines much of the city's character.

Orange Park

Suburban

Orange Park in Clay County is the most popular destination for NAS Jacksonville families and consistently earns high marks for schools, safety, and suburban livability. It sits just southwest of Jacksonville with quick access to the base and a dense commercial corridor that covers everything a family needs. Clay County schools are among the best in the Jacksonville metro, which is the primary draw.

Retirees

The St. Johns River runs through the area for boating and fishing. Fleming Island is a planned community within Orange Park with excellent schools and amenities. Proximity to Jacksonville beaches (30 min) adds to the quality of life.

Middleburg

Rural

Middleburg is a more rural community in Clay County that's become popular with NAS Jacksonville families who want land, lower prices, and a country lifestyle. It's further from the base than Orange Park but sits in the same excellent Clay County school district. Families who want horses, larger lots, and a distinctly rural Florida character consistently choose Middleburg.
