Sailors and civilians arriving at Naval Base Point Loma report to their gaining command during duty hours. NB Point Loma is home to Commander, Submarine Group 9 (Pacific Fleet submarine operations), SEAL and SWCC training elements, and various classified defense activities. The command administrative office initiates check-in and coordinates all in-processing appointments.
In-processing covers PSD for pay and records, medical enrollment at the Branch Medical Clinic, housing coordination, and base orientation. The FFSC at (619) 553-8306 coordinates the mandatory Newcomers Orientation and provides welcome packets for the San Diego area — one of the most desirable but most expensive military housing markets in the country.
