Welcome to March Air Reserve Base, home of the 452nd Air Mobility Wing! The base covers about 160 acres and employs over 8,000 military and civilian personnel, contractors and tenants. It is one of the oldest airfields operated by the U.S. military, having been established in 1918 as Alessandro Flying Training Field. Named AfterSecond Lieutenant Peyton C. March Jr.
March Air Reserve Base in Moreno Valley, California, dates to 1918 when it was established as one of the Army Air Service's earliest flying fields. It was named after Second Lieutenant Peyton C. March Jr., killed in a training accident. March served as an active-duty bomber and tanker base through the Cold War before transitioning to Air Force Reserve Command. Today it is home to the 452nd Air Mobility Wing and serves as a key West Coast reserve mobility platform.

March ARB is primarily a Reserve installation. Traditional Reservists report to the Military Personnel Flight (MPF) on the Saturday of their first Unit Training Assembly (UTA) at 0700 — Building 2314, 1351 Graeber Street. Air Reserve Technicians (ARTs) and civilian employees report to the Civilian Personnel Flight in the same building. MPF Customer Support: (951) 655-3028, Mon–Fri 0800–1200 and all day on UTA weekends. The Visitors Center (Building 2370, 363 Graeber St.) is open Mon–Fri and UTA Saturdays 0700–1600.
There is no on-base family housing at March ARB. Most personnel live in surrounding communities (Riverside, Moreno Valley, Perris, Menifee). For temporary lodging, the March Inn (655 M Street) is available at (951) 655-5241, open daily 0800–2200. For after-hours assistance, contact the base operator at (951) 655-1110. Weekend availability at the March Inn is limited due to UTA occupancy.
A Newcomers Briefing is held on the Saturday of each UTA. The Airman and Family Readiness Center (A&FRC) is located at 1261 Graeber Street, Building 2313, and can be reached at (951) 655-5350. Hours: Mon, Tue, Thu, and Fri 0800–1600; Wed 1200–1600; UTA weekends 0800–1500. Contact the A&FRC before or upon arrival to schedule relocation appointments.

What are the visitor gate hours?
Main Gate (Cactus Avenue) is the main visitor access gate and is open 24 hours a day. Other gates are restricted to military and DoD ID holders — see the Gates section for full schedules.

How do visitor passes work?
Visitors must be sponsored by someone with base access and should contact the installation's Visitor Control Center in advance with their government-issued ID and vehicle info. Day passes are issued at the gate; extended access may require additional coordination.

What is BAH and how is it calculated?
BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) is a monthly stipend based on your pay grade, dependency status, and the duty station ZIP code — it is not counted as taxable income. Rates are updated each January; use the BAH Calculator in the Finance section to see current figures for March ARB.

What should I do first after receiving PCS orders?
Contact the gaining installation's housing office and military transportation office (TMO/PPSO) immediately after orders are issued. Apply for on-base housing right away — waitlists at many installations run 6–18 months.
