Where To Live
Hill AFB is located between Ogden and Salt Lake City in the Wasatch Front, Utah — one of the most physically spectacular settings of any Air Force installation. The 388th and 419th Fighter Wings call Hill home. Weber and Davis counties provide a range of communities from the established suburbs of Layton and Clearfield to the growing cities of Ogden and South Ogden. Utah has strong public schools and a very family-oriented culture.
Layton
Suburban
Layton is the most popular community for Hill AFB families, offering excellent Davis County School District schools, easy I-15 access to the base's south gate, and a full-service retail corridor along Main Street and Antelope Drive. The city has a strong community character, well-maintained parks, and good access to skiing at Snowbasin and Powder Mountain. Home prices are higher than the Ogden area but hold value exceptionally well.

Clearfield / Clinton
Suburban
Directly adjacent to Hill's main gate, Clearfield and Clinton are the most convenient off-post communities with the shortest commutes. Davis County Schools serve both. Housing is more affordable than Layton. Clinton has a quieter residential character; Clearfield has more commercial activity. Many junior enlisted and NCO families choose this corridor for the commute advantage and cost savings.

Ogden
Urban
Weber County's largest city, Ogden has undergone a remarkable renaissance — the historic 25th Street downtown now anchors a vibrant food, arts, and outdoor recreation scene with access to some of Utah's best ski resorts (Snowbasin, Powder Mountain, Nordic Valley). Weber School District serves the city. Ogden is more affordable than Layton and gives families a genuine city character alongside world-class skiing.
