TRANSGENDER MARINES MUST DECIDE TO LEAVE VOLUNTARILY BY MARCH 28

Trump is continuing to make unprecedented cuts and changes during his time in office. Now, the Department of Defense (DOD) has released a transgender policy banning the Sailors after March 28, 2025.
The policy was focused on giving services to the military who are showing symptoms and diagnosed with gender dysphoria until March 28 to voluntarily separate from the Navy, as involuntary exit limits the benefits.
In addition, the court released the policy emphasizing that transgender Marines soldiers have until March 26 to voluntarily separate from the naval service. Without prior notice before the given date deadline, it will result in the involuntary exit, leading to limiting benefits for the transgender Marines.
The communication of the Navy called, ALNAV, gives incentives to those affected who will voluntarily leave the service. The benefits are based on their level of proficiency in the Navy.
Navy Updates Transgender Policies and Guidelines
The US Navy transgender policy is updating its guidelines, narrowing down the rights of the transgender services in the Navy. It potentially could lead to the banning of transgender professionals in the Navy in the future.
The medical word for the distress that results from one's gender identity not matching the sex assigned at birth is gender dysphoria, which is a challenge in limiting the power of transgender Marines to take up space in the naval force.
According to the US Navy transgender policy, transgender individuals have only until March 28, 2025, to exit voluntarily in the service.
Members of the Army-Navy who are diagnosed with symptoms of gender dysphoria should no longer be serving in the naval force. With the assumption and diagnosis of gender dysphoria, their hope to continue their services will end as per the DOD policy of separation of transgender in the Navy.
The Policy for Transgender Retirement
In February 2025, Donald Trump reversed the policy of the Biden administration regarding the US Navy transgender policy. The policy was released by the Department of Defense that prevents transgender American citizens from giving services or being recruited in the naval force.
The released policy guidelines affect transgender Navy Veterans, raising concerns and challenges among the transgender community.
The federal judge on the case is also raising concerns with the development policies as this will affect thousands of the transgender individuals.
Waiver Criteria Exemptions in Banning
The policy emphasizes the difficulty of exemption for transgender people to meet the requirements of exemption in the naval force. For the transgender Marines to qualify for the waiver, a transgender Marine should be stable in their birth gender for at least 36 months or three years without transitioning to any other assigned gender at birth.
The Sailors can be exempted from the military if they have valuable and unique training skills, which will be a significant investment in the future naval army.
Navy Transgender Separation Pay
All Navy communications stated that Sailors following the US Navy transgender policy through voluntary separation will be granted many benefits, such as not paying the back bonus or incentive pay. The benefits will be determined depending on how long the services have been provided.
The eligibility for the benefits is for service members with more than six years and not exceeding twenty years. Those service members who have been giving their service for eighteen years but not more than twenty years are eligible for Temporary Early Retirement Authority.
In addition, Sailors under six years of service are not included in the voluntary separation pay. Still, they are benefited by not needing to pay back the incentive or bonus pay they have received in their service.
Voluntary Separation Pay
According to the policy released on Thursday, transgender Marines who requested voluntary separation will double their benefit in comparison to Sailors who will undergo involuntary separation.
Transgender Marine members who would choose to separate from the naval force and make a decision by March 26 will receive almost double the pay for the Sailor members who will leave before the given deadline.
Involuntary Separation Pay
Transgender Marines who will be involuntarily separated from the naval force will have a 10% compensation on their annual base pay multiplied by their years of service. With many publicly transgender Marines serving in the maritime force for more than a decade, it will result in about $100,000 even before being doubled.
The longer a transgender Marine is in the service, the higher their pay is based on percentage. Since they are involuntary, their benefits are not the same as the voluntary separation, which is doubled.
This decision will tell whether they will continue their services, which will result in automatic exit without pay or voluntarily exit with many benefits before the given timeframe of the Navy policy.
What’s the Effect of the Separation?
Officials express their deep concerns that the Navy’s new policy limiting and banning sailors and transgender Marines will be a significant loss in the naval force. However, the number of transgender Marines is not specified; due to the inner identification and psychological approach to the sailors, it is difficult to tell if they are part of being transgender.
Some transgender are not able to be recognized physically, and the vague search for individuals undergoing the shifting of gender based on their assigned birth has been difficult for the officials to distinguish.
The new US Navy transgender policy is raising much concern, as this action is leaving transgender Sailors no choice but to voluntarily leave by March 28, 2025.
Job losses, financial difficulty, and professional skills will be the consequences that transgender may face in the military if the strict implementation of banning LGBTQAI+ entities in the military continues following Trump's order.
As the US Navy transgender policy is being developed to limit all the transgender in their service military, their separation from the Navy will be proof of their brave fights in the battle carrying themselves even though they do not entirely practice their assigned gender from their birth.
It it expected that legal actions will come about in the next few months, as Trump's orders are felt in full effect.
