Welcome to Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, a logistics-focused Marine Corps installation located in Southwest Georgia. Rather than serving as a traditional operational base, MCLB Albany provides the facilities, infrastructure, and installation support that help tenant organizations sustain Marines and equipment around the world. Today, the base plays an important role in Marine Corps readiness through logistics, maintenance, supply, and other support missions.

MCLB Albany has supported the Marine Corps for more than 70 years. The installation began as the Marine Corps Depot of Supplies, later became the Marine Corps Supply Center, and was redesignated Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany in 1978 as its mission expanded to encompass a broader range of logistics support functions. The base has also developed a reputation for innovation and sustainability, becoming the first Department of Defense installation to achieve Net Zero energy in 2022.

If you are PCSing to MCLB Albany, expect a smaller installation with a close connection to the surrounding Albany community and a mission centered heavily on keeping the Marine Corps ready. Before you arrive, focus on the usual PCS essentials: reporting instructions, base access, housing, schools, medical care, employment, transportation, and temporary lodging. The installation’s newcomer resources, MCCS programs, and Visitor Control Center can help you navigate those first steps as you prepare to make Southwest Georgia your new home.

One important thing to know before arriving: there is no public transportation directly to MCLB Albany. Incoming personnel who need transportation assistance should coordinate with their sponsor or gaining command before arrival.

Need Access to MCLB Albany? Here’s What You Need to Do

Visitors who do not already have authorized installation access should start at the MCLB Albany Visitor Control Center, located outside the front gate on Fleming Road in Building 3010. The Visitor Control Center processes visitor passes, 30-day passes, vehicle registration, and identification services. Current hours for visitor passes and vehicle registration are Monday through Friday from 0800 to 1530, with the office closed for lunch from 1145 to 1230. Appointments are required for Visitor Control Center services.

To request a visitor pass, bring two current, unexpired forms of state- or federally issued identification. If you have a sponsor and their information, you can also complete DBIDS pre-enrollment before arriving. After pre-enrolling, bring the QR code generated by the system along with the original two forms of identification to the Visitor Control Center.

For questions about visitor access or documentation, contact the Visitor Control Center at (229) 639-5150, (229) 639-5118, or (229) 639-7883.

To request access to MCLB Albany, be prepared to provide the following:

  • Visitors requesting a pass must bring two valid, unexpired forms of state- or federally issued identification to the Visitor Control Center.
  • At least one of the identification documents should be a state- or government-issued photo ID.

    • Bring the DBIDS QR code generated during pre-enrollment.
    • You must still bring your two original forms of identification to the Visitor Control Center.

Gates & Hours of Operation

Getting onto MCLB Albany is fairly straightforward once you know which entrance fits your trip. The Main Gate on Fleming Road is the primary 24/7 entrance and the best choice for visitors, while the Johnson Road Gate provides another access point during the day.

Commercial and oversized vehicles should use the designated truck entrance, and gate schedules can change for holidays, exercises, weather, or other operational requirements.

Main Gate – Fleming Road

The MCLB Albany Main Gate is located on Fleming Road and is the installation’s primary entrance. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is the main gate visitors should plan to use when arriving at the installation.

The MCLB Albany Visitor Control Center is located outside the front gate in Building 3010 on Fleming Road, making this the best entrance for anyone who needs a visitor pass or other access assistance. Visitor-pass services are currently available Monday through Friday from 0800–1530, with the office closed for lunch from 1145–1230.

Hours: Open 24/7

Johnson Road Gate

The Johnson Road Gate provides another entrance for authorized personnel traveling to and from MCLB Albany. The gate is an all-access entrance operating daily from 0530–2200.

Hours: Monday–Sunday, 0530–2200

Truck Gate

Commercial and oversized vehicles should use MCLB Albany’s designated Truck Gate rather than the regular passenger-vehicle entrances. Commercial access is restricted and available Monday through Friday from 0530–1800.

Hours: Monday–Friday, 0530–1800

Mock Road Gate

The Mock Road Gate has historically been used for limited and commercial traffic at MCLB Albany. Marine Corps records identify the Mock Road entrance as Gate 15 and document its use as a controlled vehicle entrance.

Hours: Verify before use

New Arrivals & In-Processing

When arriving at MCLB Albany, your first step is to follow your command’s reporting instructions and stay in contact with your sponsor. During normal working hours, Marines should report to the Installation Personnel Administration Center (IPAC) in Building 3500, Room 315, to begin their formal check-in. IPAC is open Monday through Friday from 0730 to 1630 and serves as the initial administrative check-in point for Marines reporting aboard MCLB Albany.

If you arrive after normal working hours, on a weekend, or on a holiday, MCLB Albany directs Marines to report to the Officer of the Day in Building 3500. The OOD will endorse your orders with your arrival date and time and direct you to report to IPAC at 0730 on the next working day in uniform with your original orders. Single Marines who are sergeants and below will also be directed to the Barracks Duty NCO for room assignment, while married Marines, SNCOs, and officers should arrange lodging before arrival or use temporary accommodations until permanent housing is secured.

Newcomers and families should also take advantage of the MCCS Albany Welcome Aboard Brief. The brief introduces new arrivals to base services and amenities, relocation assistance, housing and transportation resources, childcare and schools, sponsorship and Family Readiness, and the local Albany community. Upcoming brief dates are listed on the MCCS Albany events calendar, or newcomers can contact Information, Referral, and Relocation for registration information.

Be sure to hand-carry important documents such as your original orders, military and dependent IDs, travel paperwork, medical records, school records, marriage or birth certificates, housing documents, and other PCS-related paperwork rather than packing them with household goods. One additional Albany-specific step is especially important: all incoming active-duty personnel must check in with the Housing Referral Service Office before making an off-base housing commitment, regardless of marital or family status or whether housing assistance is needed.

MCLB Albany Amenities & Facilities

Once you are through the MCLB Albany arrival process, there are a few on-base amenities and administrative offices worth knowing from day one.

Medical care, housing assistance, and DEERS/ID services are all available on the installation, and getting familiar with these locations early can make the first few weeks of a PCS much easier.

The Naval Branch Health Clinic Albany provides on-base medical care for eligible beneficiaries and is part of Naval Hospital Jacksonville. Services include family medicine, immunizations, laboratory and radiology, pharmacy, women’s health, health promotion, occupational health, dental services, medical records, deployment health assessments, and other routine and preventive care. The clinic does not have an emergency room, so emergencies should go through 911 or the nearest emergency department.

Housing Office

Housing should be one of your first stops after arriving at MCLB Albany. The MCLB Albany Housing Office assists military and civilian personnel with on-base family housing, off-base rentals, home purchases, housing referrals, and questions about the local housing market. MCLB Albany specifically requires incoming service members to check in with the Housing Office before entering into a lease or housing agreement in the community, so this is one PCS appointment you do not want to skip.

On-base family housing is managed by Liberty Military Housing, but the assignment process begins through the installation Housing Office. Families can also submit the DD Form 1746 housing application before arrival and contact the office for current wait times and bedroom eligibility.

The MCLB Albany DEERS and ID Card Office is located inside the Visitor Control Center on Fleming Road. The office handles Common Access Cards, military and dependent identification cards, DEERS updates, and other identification services for eligible personnel and family members.

Appointments are required, and applicants generally need two valid forms of identification, with the primary document being a state or government-issued photo ID. Original documents or certified true copies are required for many DEERS changes, such as adding a spouse or child. You can schedule an appointment through the RAPIDS ID Card Office Online system.

Financial Services

PCS moves tend to come with plenty of pay and travel questions, and MCLB Albany handles those services a little differently than some installations. For Marines, the Military Personnel Center/IPAC provides administrative support for orders, entitlements, travel claims, and other personnel actions, while the MCLB Albany DTS and GTCC Help Desk assists with Defense Travel System vouchers, reimbursements, and Government Travel Charge Card questions.

The DTS Help Desk is especially useful for TDY travel, local vouchers, reimbursement issues, returned vouchers, and travel-card questions. If your concern involves PCS orders, entitlements, or personnel administration instead, start with MILPERS/IPAC.

Legal questions always seem to appear at the least convenient time, especially during a PCS, deployment, lease change, or major family transition. The MCLB Albany Legal Assistance Office can help eligible service members, retirees, and dependents with issues such as powers of attorney, notary services, wills and estate planning, landlord-tenant matters, family law, immigration, adoptions, and protections under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.

MCLB Albany’s legal-assistance attorneys are now part of the legal-assistance section at Parris Island, so many consultations are conducted by telephone. In-person attorney visits are generally offered once a month, usually on the first Wednesday, while notary services, certain powers of attorney, and other routine services can be handled locally during regular business hours. Call ahead before planning a visit, since attorney schedules may change because of training or holidays.

The Exchange also houses services such as Information, Tickets and Tours, a barber shop, dry cleaning, and Subway, making it an easy one-stop errand location on base.

Purchases at the MCX are tax-free for authorized shoppers, and revenue generated by the Exchange helps support MCCS quality-of-life programs at MCLB Albany. MCLB Albany Housing

Finding the right place to live is one of the biggest pieces of any PCS puzzle. At Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, housing options include privatized military family housing, unaccompanied housing for eligible service members, and homes or apartments in the surrounding Albany community.

The Housing Office can help incoming personnel understand their options and navigate the process before committing to a home.

Military Housing Office

Before you sign a lease, purchase a home, or commit to housing in the local community, make the MCLB Albany Housing Office one of your first stops. Incoming active-duty personnel are required to check in with the Housing Office, even if they plan to live off base.

The office can help with family housing applications, current wait times, off-base rental referrals, landlord or tenant concerns, and information about the surrounding housing market.

Privatized Housing

Liberty Military Housing – Albany Hill Village

Military family housing at MCLB Albany is privatized and managed by Liberty Military Housing. Albany Hill Village includes three- and four-bedroom duplex and single-family homes conveniently located aboard MCLB Albany. Residents have access to community amenities, maintenance services, and the convenience of living close to work, schools, recreation, and other installation facilities.

Incoming active-duty service members should begin the housing process through the MCLB Albany Housing Office rather than applying directly to Liberty. Once the required application and orders have been processed, eligible applicants can be referred for privatized housing based on availability and bedroom entitlement.

Address: 12036 Putnam Boulevard, Albany, GA 31705

Hours: Monday–Friday: 0800–1700 Saturday–Sunday: Closed

Phone: (229) 352-3626

On-Base Housing

On-base housing at MCLB Albany includes privatized family housing through Liberty Military Housing and barracks housing for eligible single service members. Unlike some larger installations with several separate family housing neighborhoods, MCLB Albany's privatized family housing is concentrated in Albany Hill Village, which includes three- and four-bedroom duplex and single-family homes.

Single service members in grades E-1 through E-5 are generally housed in the barracks aboard the installation. Personnel who are not eligible for barracks or family housing can work with the Housing Referral Office to find suitable housing in the surrounding community.

Albany Hill Village

Albany Hill Village is the privatized military family housing community serving MCLB Albany. Liberty Military Housing manages approximately 110 homes, with three- and four-bedroom options available in both duplex and single-family configurations. Current floor plans range from approximately 1,736 to more than 2,400 square feet, depending on the home.

Homes are designed with military families in mind and offer convenient access to MCLB Albany facilities and services. The community includes amenities such as a swimming pool, playground, and picnic area, along with resident activities and community programs. Liberty also provides 24-hour maintenance services.

For active-duty residents, Liberty advertises benefits including average utility costs included in rent, no credit checks, no security deposit when rent is paid through military allotment, free maintenance, and flexible lease terms. Albany Hill Village is also pet-friendly, although breed restrictions and pet requirements apply.

Housing availability is based on factors such as rank, bedroom entitlement, and current inventory. Because MCLB Albany has a relatively small inventory of family housing, incoming families should contact the Housing Office as early as possible after receiving orders. Applications for military family housing begin through the MCLB Albany Housing Referral Office, rather than directly through Liberty Military Housing.

Off-Base Housing & Military Preferred Living Areas

Sometimes finding off-base housing can feel like putting the cart before the horse, especially if you are also trying to choose a school district, plan a commute, stay within BAH, or find specific amenities. Before you fall in love with a rental or neighborhood, it helps to think through what matters most for your family: schools, drive time to the gate, pets, yard space, lease terms, and access to shopping, medical care, or childcare.

For MCLB Albany families, location can be especially important when it comes to schools. There are no DoDEA schools aboard the installation, and families who live off base generally attend the public school district associated with their residential address. The three primary districts in the immediate area are Dougherty County School System, Lee County School System, and Worth County School System, so it is a good idea to confirm school zoning before signing a lease or purchasing a home.

As a military community, we know planning ahead can make a PCS feel a little less overwhelming. One helpful planning factor is understanding the local cost of living, especially when it comes to housing. Realtor.com provides current market information for the Albany area and surrounding communities, including median listing prices, rental prices, inventory, and neighborhood information.

These numbers are a helpful starting point, but they can change quickly and may vary significantly depending on the neighborhood, home size, lease terms, and availability. Before making an off-base housing commitment, incoming active-duty personnel should also contact the MCLB Albany Housing Office. MCLB Albany specifically directs incoming active-duty personnel to check in with the Housing Referral Office before committing to off-base housing. The office can provide rental listings, information about military clauses, landlord-tenant assistance, and other local housing resources.

Albany

If convenience is at the top of your list, Albany is the natural place to begin your off-base housing search. The city surrounds much of the installation and offers the largest selection of apartments, rental homes, and homes for sale in the immediate area. Depending on where you live in the city, you can also stay close to shopping, restaurants, parks, healthcare, and other everyday services while maintaining a relatively short commute to MCLB Albany.

Housing varies considerably from one part of Albany to another. Northwest Albany, including areas around the Dawson Road corridor, Doublegate, Lake Park, and surrounding neighborhoods, is one area military families may encounter frequently during a home search. Because the city covers a fairly large geographic area, it is worth driving the route from a prospective home to the gate during your normal commuting hours before making a decision.

Travel to MCLB Albany: Approximately 10–20 minutes

Median Listing Home Price: $179,900

Median Rent: About $885 per month

School Ratings: Albany is served primarily by the Dougherty County School System. Realtor.com currently lists several elementary schools with GreatSchools ratings of 6 or 7 out of 10, including Lake Park Elementary, Lincoln Elementary Magnet, Sherwood Acres Elementary, and Jackson Heights Elementary. Ratings and attendance zones vary considerably by address, so families should verify the assigned schools before choosing a home.

Leesburg / Lee County

Leesburg and the surrounding Lee County area are worth exploring if you do not mind a slightly longer commute in exchange for a quieter, more suburban or small-town setting. Leesburg sits north of Albany and has experienced steady residential growth, with subdivisions, larger lots, and newer homes available throughout Lee County.

For families with school-age children, Lee County may also be an area to research closely. The MCLB Albany School Liaison identifies Lee County Schools as one of the three primary school systems serving military families in the area. Leesburg still provides relatively easy access to Albany for shopping, healthcare, restaurants, and other services, making it a popular option for families who want some separation between home and the installation.

Travel to MCLB Albany: 15–25 minutes

Median Listing Home Price: Approximately $359,900

Median Rent: Approximately $1,395 per month

School Ratings: Realtor.com’s Leesburg market page currently lists Twin Oaks Elementary at 7 out of 10 and Lee County Elementary at 6 out of 10 based on GreatSchools data. School assignments depend on the home's address, so verify zoning directly with Lee County Schools before signing a lease or purchasing a home.

Sylvester

If a quieter small-town atmosphere sounds appealing, Sylvester is another option to consider. Located east of MCLB Albany in Worth County, Sylvester offers a more rural setting while remaining close enough for a daily commute to the installation. The city describes itself as a laid-back Southwest Georgia community and has a traditional downtown, local parks and recreation, community events, and everyday services.

Sylvester can be especially appealing to buyers looking for housing at a lower price point than some parts of Lee County. The tradeoff is a longer commute and fewer major shopping and entertainment options immediately nearby, so families may still find themselves traveling into Albany for some services.

Travel to MCLB Albany: 20–30 minutes

Median Listing Home Price: Approximately $212,500

School Ratings: Sylvester is served by the Worth County School System. Realtor.com’s Sylvester market page currently lists Worth County Elementary at 5 out of 10 through GreatSchools. Families should contact the district to confirm the schools associated with a particular address.

Putney

For families who prefer a more rural feel without getting too far from Albany, Putney may also be worth adding to the housing search. This unincorporated community is south of Albany and offers a quieter setting with more rural residential properties and larger lots in some areas. It is still close enough to reach the installation and Albany's larger concentration of shopping, healthcare, dining, and other services without turning the daily commute into a major road trip.

One thing to keep in mind is inventory. Putney is much smaller than Albany or Leesburg, so there may be significantly fewer rentals and homes for sale at any given time. Realtor.com recently reported a median listing home price of approximately $147,400, but with only a small number of properties available, that figure can change substantially from month to month.

Travel to MCLB Albany: 10–20 minutes

Median Listing Home Price: Approximately $147,400

School Ratings: Putney is within Dougherty County, so public-school assignments depend on the home's exact location. Realtor.com’s Putney page currently identifies Radium Springs Elementary as one of the schools serving the area. Because attendance boundaries and educational needs vary, families should verify the assigned elementary, middle, and high schools before committing to a property.

Temporary Housing Options

Lining up housing early can help take some of the pressure off once you arrive, especially since on-base temporary lodging at MCLB Albany is limited. That said, military life and PCS season do not always cooperate with the best-laid plans.

If you arrive at MCLB Albany and still need a temporary place to stay, start by checking availability at Live Oak Lodge, then compare nearby hotels based on availability, pet policies, kitchen access, laundry, commute time, and the needs of your family.

If you are traveling on official orders and government lodging is unavailable, be sure to ask whether you need documentation of non-availability before booking commercial lodging.

Live Oak Lodge

Live Oak Lodge is the primary on-base temporary lodging option at MCLB Albany. Because transient lodging is limited, reservations should be made as early as possible. The lodge offers several fully furnished three-bedroom homes and suites in a variety of configurations, making it a particularly useful option for families who want the convenience of staying aboard the installation while waiting for permanent housing.

All homes, rooms, and suites include kitchen facilities, linens, and essential kitchenware, and guests receive free Wi-Fi and access to complimentary laundry facilities. Limited pet-friendly quarters are also available for an additional fee, so families PCSing with pets should ask about availability when making their reservation. Once you are ready to take a break from unpacking and paperwork, head off base to Radium Springs Gardens, one of Georgia's seven natural wonders, for an easy introduction to the Albany area.

MCLB Albany Schools

Unlike some military installations, MCLB Albany does not have a DoDEA or K–12 school located on base. However, military families living in Liberty Military Housing have a lot of flexibility: eligible active-duty families assigned to MCLB Albany may choose among Dougherty County, Lee County, or Worth County public schools. Families living off base generally attend the school district associated with their residential address.

The MCLB Albany School Liaison is a great resource for families trying to sort through these options. The School Liaison can assist with school transitions, registration, public and private school information, homeschooling, special education resources, local policies, and academic programs. Families can also get help understanding transportation and enrollment requirements before choosing where to live.

Off-Base Schools (K–12)

For families PCSing to MCLB Albany, schools can play a major role in deciding where to live. Families living off base generally attend schools within the district where their home is located, so it is important to confirm the assigned school before signing a lease or purchasing a home. The three primary public school systems surrounding MCLB Albany are Dougherty County School System, Lee County School System, and Worth County School District.

Families arriving from outside Georgia should also be prepared for state enrollment requirements. Schools may request a birth certificate, Social Security card or waiver, proof of residency, previous school records, immunization records on Georgia Form 3231, and an eye, ear, dental, and nutrition screening on Georgia Form 3300. Military families should also keep a copy of their orders available during registration.

Dougherty County School System

Dougherty County School System serves Albany and much of the area immediately surrounding MCLB Albany. The district includes elementary, middle, and high schools along with early education centers, magnet programs, and the Commodore Conyers College & Career Academy. Current specialized options include programs focused on medical arts, fine arts, multimedia, international studies, pre-engineering, and advanced academics.

One important benefit for military families is that children of active-duty service members living aboard MCLB Albany may attend a DCSS school of choice, rather than being limited to the school normally associated with the installation's geographic attendance zone. DCSS also provides bus transportation with stops throughout Liberty Housing. Families living elsewhere in Dougherty County should verify attendance zones or eligibility for magnet and other school-choice programs.

The DCSS website provides online registration, calendars, parent resources, transportation information, school directories, magnet applications, nutrition services, special education resources, and access to the district's parent portal.

Lee County School System

For families considering homes in Leesburg or elsewhere in Lee County, Lee County School System is another major public school option near MCLB Albany. The district provides a complete K–12 pathway through its primary and elementary schools, two middle school campuses, Lee County Ninth Grade Campus, and Lee County High School.

Students in kindergarten through eighth grade are assigned to either an east or west attendance zone, while students come together at the district's ninth-grade campus and high school. Families living aboard MCLB Albany may also elect to attend Lee County schools, although parents are responsible for transportation from the base. Families who actually reside in Lee County are eligible for district transportation according to their assigned routes.

The district website provides registration information, school-zone maps, calendars, transportation resources, school menus, athletics, special education services, and parent and student resources. Families can also contact the district Registrar's Office for help with enrollment and residency documentation.

Worth County School District

Worth County School District serves families living in Sylvester and surrounding Worth County communities. The district includes Worth County Primary School, Worth County Elementary School, Worth County Middle School, Worth County High School, and Worth County Achievement Center, providing local families with public-school options from the early grades through high school.

Active-duty families assigned to MCLB Albany and living aboard the installation may also choose Worth County schools. Worth County currently provides bus transportation for participating students with pickup and drop-off throughout Liberty Housing, which can make the district easier to consider even though its schools are located outside Albany.

The Worth County School District website includes online registration, calendars, family resources, Infinite Campus Parent Portal access, dining information, district news, and individual school pages. MCLB families registering with the district may use documentation from the MCLB Housing Office to help establish residency.

Baconton Community Charter School

Baconton Community Charter School is another public-school option that military families may want to research. Located north of Albany in Baconton, the state charter school serves students from Pre-K through 12th grade and offers academics alongside athletics and extracurricular clubs.

The school's authorized attendance area includes Dougherty, Lee, Worth, Baker, and Mitchell counties, making it an option for families living in several communities surrounding MCLB Albany. Because charter enrollment and available space may differ from traditional neighborhood schools, families should review current enrollment procedures and deadlines directly with the school.

Private Schools

Families interested in private education also have several options in the Albany area. The MCLB Albany School Liaison maintains information on local private schools and can help families compare programs, admissions requirements, and other considerations.

Sherwood Christian Academy

Sherwood Christian Academy is a private Christian school in Albany serving students from K3 through 12th grade. The school describes its program as college preparatory and Bible-based and offers academics alongside athletics, fine arts, and spiritual-life programs.

For families interested in a faith-based private-school environment, the school's website includes information on admissions, academics, tuition, financial assistance, athletics, fine arts, campus life, and upcoming events. Because tuition and enrollment availability can change from year to year, families should contact the admissions office directly when planning a PCS.

Deerfield-Windsor School

Deerfield-Windsor School is an independent college-preparatory school in Albany serving approximately 540 students from K3 through 12th grade. The school offers separate lower, middle, and upper school programs and emphasizes academics, athletics, arts, service, and preparation for college.

Families considering Deerfield-Windsor can use the school's website to explore academics, admissions, tuition and affordability, financial assistance, athletics, student support, and campus tours. The school offers need-based financial aid through the FACTS application process, and its admissions office specifically encourages families relocating to Albany to contact the school about enrollment availability, including circumstances involving upper-grade transfers.

Employment Assistance & Resources

PCS season usually means starting over in more ways than one. For many military spouses and family members, that includes looking for new career opportunities, rebuilding a professional network, transferring a professional license, or figuring out how to make work fit around another move.

It is never easy, but MCLB Albany and the surrounding community offer several resources to help with resume preparation, job searches, interview preparation, federal employment, training opportunities, and local career connections.

Family Member Employment Assistance Program

The MCLB Albany Family Member Employment Assistance Program is a great first stop for military spouses and dependent family members who are looking for work or trying to figure out their next career move after a PCS. FMEAP provides individualized career advising along with help with resumes, interviewing, job-search strategies, career assessments, salary negotiations, education and training resources, entrepreneurship, and volunteer opportunities that can help build experience.

The program also connects families with military spouse resources such as the Military Spouse Employment Partnership, SpouseWorks, professional licensing assistance, and career workshops. Whether you are returning to the workforce, changing careers, or trying to keep an existing profession moving with you, this is one of the best on-base resources to have in your corner.

MCLB Albany MCCS Jobs

If on-base employment is part of your PCS plan, MCCS Careers is another website worth bookmarking. Marine Corps Community Services employs civilian workers in areas such as child and youth programs, recreation and fitness, retail, food and hospitality, administrative support, family programs, and other quality-of-life services aboard Marine Corps installations.

You can search the MCCS Careers system by installation and select MCLB Albany to see current openings. MCCS positions may include Nonappropriated Fund, or NAF, employment, and openings can range from flexible or part-time positions to full-time professional and management roles. Applications are submitted online through the MCCS careers system, so setting up an account early can make it easier to apply when the right Albany position appears.

USAJOBS

When it comes to federal employment, USAJOBS is still one of the most important job-search tools to know during a PCS. Whether you are a military spouse, veteran, transitioning service member, current federal employee hoping to transfer, or someone interested in starting a federal career, you can use USAJOBS to search positions by location, agency, occupation, pay grade, work schedule, remote eligibility, and hiring path.

MCLB Albany supports a substantial civilian workforce, and federal positions associated with Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany and Marine Corps Logistics Command regularly appear on USAJOBS. Current and recent postings have included fields such as logistics management, program analysis, accounting, law enforcement, fire protection, and skilled trades.

Military spouses should pay particular attention to the Military Spouse hiring path when reviewing announcements. Create a USAJOBS profile, upload your federal resume and supporting documents, and consider setting up a saved search for Albany Marine Corps Logistics Base, Georgia so you can receive alerts when new positions are posted.

SpouseWorks

SpouseWorks is one of those free military spouse resources that is absolutely worth bookmarking during PCS season. Formerly known as SECO, SpouseWorks brings career and education resources together in one place, including career coaching, resume and interview assistance, job-search tools, education and training information, fellowships, scholarships, and connections with employers specifically interested in hiring military spouses.

The program also includes the Military Spouse Employment Partnership, which connects military spouses with more than 1,000 employer partners that have committed to recruiting, hiring, promoting, and retaining military spouses. That can be especially helpful in a smaller employment market like Albany, because opportunities may include national employers and careers that are portable from one duty station to the next.

SpouseWorks can also help with professional licensing and education funding. The SpouseWorks Scholarship, formerly MyCAA, currently provides eligible military spouses with up to $4,000 toward qualifying licenses, certifications, continuing education, or associate degrees tied to employment. Eligible spouses can also work one-on-one with a career coach at no cost.

WorkSource Southwest Georgia

For anyone trying to get familiar with the local Albany job market, WorkSource Southwest Georgia is another resource worth keeping on your PCS radar. WorkSource serves job seekers throughout Southwest Georgia and provides employment, education, training, and supportive services designed to connect local workers with employers and career opportunities. Services can include career planning, workforce training, work experience, transitional jobs, and on-the-job training opportunities.

The Albany WorkSource Southwest Georgia One-Stop Comprehensive Center is located inside the Georgia Department of Labor Career Center. This can be especially useful for military spouses, veterans, transitioning service members, and family members who want assistance understanding the Southwest Georgia employment market, finding training opportunities, or connecting with local employers. WorkSource Southwest Georgia also provides dedicated employment services for veterans.

Georgia Department of Labor – Albany Career Center

The Georgia Department of Labor Albany Career Center is another helpful local resource for job seekers after a PCS. The Albany center serves Dougherty, Lee, Worth, Calhoun, and Terrell counties, making it useful whether you decide to live in Albany, Leesburg, or another nearby community.

The Career Center can help connect job seekers with Georgia employment resources and is also home to the Albany WorkSource Southwest Georgia office. If you are still learning which employers are active in the area or trying to determine what opportunities exist within commuting distance of MCLB Albany, it is a practical place to add to your job-search toolkit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I live on MCLB Albany without children?

Yes, potentially. Having children is not necessarily required for family housing. A service member with an eligible dependent spouse may still qualify for family housing, but eligibility and bedroom entitlement depend on factors such as dependent status, rank, family composition, and current availability. Contact the MCLB Albany Housing Office at (229) 639-5962 before making housing plans so they can confirm your specific eligibility.

Can I live on MCLB Albany if I'm not married?

It depends on your rank and housing eligibility. Single service members in grades E-1 through E-5 are generally assigned to the barracks aboard MCLB Albany. Bachelor Officers' Quarters are not available, and personnel who are not eligible for barracks housing can work with the Housing Referral Office to find suitable housing in the local community.

What are the PT hours for MCLB Albany?

There is not one universal installation-wide PT time that applies to everyone at MCLB Albany. The base physical fitness order directs Marines to maintain a rigorous physical fitness program through individual or unit efforts and calls for aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity five days per week for at least 30 minutes per day.

Your actual formation and PT schedule will depend on your command, section, and leadership, so check with your sponsor or gaining unit for the schedule that applies to you.

Can I use coupons at the commissary?

Yes. The MCLB Albany Commissary accepts qualifying manufacturer coupons, including paper coupons used in store. You can also use Commissary Rewards Card digital coupons by loading them to your account and scanning your Rewards Card at checkout. Paper and digital coupons cannot be stacked on the same item or purchase requirement.

The Albany Commissary also offers Commissary CLICK2GO for online ordering and curbside pickup. Digital Rewards Card coupons can be applied to CLICK2GO orders, while paper coupons must be redeemed using the applicable in-store payment option.

Is MCLB Albany hands-free?

Yes. Drivers operating privately owned vehicles aboard MCLB Albany may not use a cell phone while the vehicle is in operation unless they are using a hands-free device. The installation's traffic regulations also prohibit texting while driving.

There is an additional restriction for government vehicles: drivers of GOVs are not authorized to use a cell phone while driving even with a hands-free device. These rules apply throughout the installation, so put the phone away before you head through the gate.

Can my pet live on MCLB Albany?

Pets are permitted in eligible family housing, but there are registration and animal-control requirements to keep in mind. Dogs and cats must be registered with a local veterinarian, and proof of required vaccinations and a functioning ISO-compatible microchip must be provided to the Housing Referral Office before entering family housing.

Marine Corps installations prohibit full or mixed breeds of Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, and Canid/Wolf hybrids, and additional Liberty Military Housing requirements may apply. Pets are not permitted in MCLB Albany single-service-member housing, so unaccompanied personnel should speak with the Housing Office before bringing a pet.

What mailing address should I use before I arrive?

Recently transferred personnel may use General Delivery until they establish permanent quarters at MCLB Albany. The base's current mail-handling instructions state that personnel should provide correspondents with their permanent mailing address within 90 days of joining the command; after that point, mail sent through General Delivery may be returned to the sender.

Once assigned to the barracks, mail should be addressed using your name and assigned suite number, Albany, GA 31704. Personnel living in family housing use their individual street address and the 31705 ZIP code. Verify the exact format with the MCLB Albany Base Post Office at (229) 639-5219 before having important mail or packages sent ahead of you.
