Teal Yost

Teal Yost is a Navy spouse, journalist, and managing editor of Military Brands, where she leads storytelling that connects and empowers the military community. With more than a decade of experience in military-focused media, her work blends journalistic excellence with a deep personal understanding of service life. A former editor for Military Families Magazine, Teal has also contributed to Military.com, We Are The Mighty, and Allrecipes.com. Before joining Military Brands, she served as a Navy Public Affairs Officer and built a decorated career in broadcast journalism, reporting for NBC, CBS, Fox, and Bloomberg. From covering government shutdowns to tech IPOs — and even pulling 7+ Gs in an F-16 Thunderbird — Teal’s storytelling brings authenticity and energy to every subject she covers. As a Navy spouse of ten years with seven PCS moves across Japan, Spain, Hawaii, and the U.S., Teal knows firsthand the resilience and chaos of military family life — especially while raising three energetic boys. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Naval Services FamilyLine and hosts its podcast, Our Navy Life, where she amplifies stories of service, strength, and community. Teal holds a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University and a B.A. in political science and theatre from Millikin University. She currently lives in Charleston, South Carolina, where she’s a passionate home chef, thrill-seeker, and loyal fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Navy Midshipmen, and Indiana Pacers.
